Emboldening My Generation to Take Part in Church
The concept of church service continues to confuse many young people. Some have served, are serving, and are eager to serve, and yet seem to be searching for an answer to the question of why we should be serving God at every season in our lives.
Many of the young people of my generation, who frequently use the phrase “YOLO,” which stands for "You Only Live Once," have a hard time understanding why we should serve the Lord, especially in the church during our youth, if we can just enjoy and focus on our personal choices and interests. What exactly is the point of it?
So, I looked at the scriptures and here’s what I found.
Proverbs 22:6 NIV
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old, they will not turn from it.”
This verse demonstrates that how you are raised, act, and create habits as a child has an impact on who you will become as an adult.
Depending on how you're living right now, this might or might not benefit you. When you serve God as a child, you're laying the groundwork for a life that honors God as an adult.
I asked Ptra. Krizzia Kate Yuzon, Youth Pastor of Youth Empowered Imus, on why we should encourage people to join in serving God, especially the youth.
According to her, young people should be encouraged to get involved in the church because its aim is to offer them the best kind of life there is: a life that loves God, inspires and includes every generation, fulfills the Great Commandments, and engages and empowers through the power of the Holy Spirit.
She added, "Come and join, for you to be heard, for us to hear you, to help you, and see you completely healed."
But remember, serving isn't simply for our benefit; it's about Him getting the glory.
Therefore, fellow youth, let us choose to serve God, for it is in Him that we will find the ultimate meaning of life.
Ecclesiastes 12:1 NLT
Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”
Praise God 👏
