"I don't know if I can get through another day."
"I'm not sure if this Christian life is for me."
"Why do I still struggle in believing God's promises when I already have Christ?"
To overcome these thoughts, we need to believe first. Stated in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This is my first guiding principle when I became a Born again Christian as I still questioned my faith whenever I sinned. Am I still a child of God? Am I still saved? Is God disappointed in me? However I realized that as I read the Bible, the concerns I had before are now known as fear. I have discovered that the reason I originally believed in Jesus was not because I loved him or knew him, but rather because I was plainly scared of going to hell.
Believing is a Decision
Faith is when we continue to believe in Christ. It is said in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
God definitely knows that as long as we are still on this earth, we cannot avoid sin. However, by the blood of Jesus we are saved as long as we believe in Him. Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ our Lord.”
We should have a strong belief in His word that nothing in this world can separate us from Him if we constantly entrust our lives to Him.
These are the three things I believe about fear:
Fear is something we create inside our mind
Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, '' If you can believe? All things are possible for one who believes.”
Many of us are terrified of what lies ahead of us (future). Some people fear losing their material possessions, others fear losing their loved ones, while yet others fear being alone. We value things we believed we possess in this world thus we tend to prioritize it and see it as the value of oneself. In Matthew 17:20 Jesus replied, ”Truly I tell you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
God loves you and he is with you -- though it’s a common phrase we hear. We still unconsciously think that we deal with the challenges alone. God will be the one to open opportunities, provide for your needs and always be there to guide you. All we need to do is give our best and do not fear the doubts, anxieties, stress or anything that makes us compromise our faith. If God can divide the sea for Moses, told the sun to stop for Joshua, and keep Daniel safe from the lions, what are you truly afraid of? God can also do things impossible for you.
2. Fear can cause of our blindness
In John 8:12 Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
If you place a higher value on fear than you do on Jesus, it may cause you to perceive darkness, stumble, become disoriented, and make poor decisions that do not please God. Even born-again Christians and unbelievers might become blinded by their own sin.
For instance, believing that God loves you and is willing to pardon you whenever you ask for it is true, yet it is frequently used to excuse sin when it is not. This statement serves to illustrate my idea that some Christians' beliefs can be misguided if they aren't actively battling for or strengthening their trust in the Lord.
We should be careful of our thoughts in believing what is right and what is wrong.
3. Trust God
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight. “
I do not know what are the challenges your facing or emotions that you are dealing with. The things I had said in my first statements may be easy to say. But Let God be with you, God sees you heart.
Prayer:
Lord, today as you are with me. And sees the desire of my heart
Guide me and show me your will.
Drove my fear away and draw your love closer with me
Lord, I’m giving you my life for you to use it for your glory
Be a blessing to others
be a faithful servant and child of yours. Amen
