It’s a new month once again, and we are especially excited about what the BER months will bring – it signals the start of a joyous season once again, It reminds us of Christmas and that each new day brings us closer and closer towards the end of the year.
This year might not have been good to you. Looking back, you may be filled with sadness, regret, hopelessness, and worry. You might have lost a job, opportunities, or a bustling business. There used to be a sparkle in your eye whenever you faced the last few months of the year in high spirits.
Now, you’re not sure what 2023 will bring.
In all of this, we can turn to Romans 15:13 which says:
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
How do we remain hopeful in the face of trials and worries?
First, we trust in a God who never lies – He has been faithful in the past, and He will remain faithful to us now, whatever we are going through. He has given us everything we need in order to succeed, or even just to thrive for another day. When he says he KNOWS the plans he has for us and to bless us, that includes you, too. And we have every reason to keep trusting Him.
Christ gave us hope for the future. Not just for this life, but for eternity. How did Jesus endure the agony of the cross and the pain of his sufferings? He looked with hope toward the future glory that we will all be together with Him someday as His children. And so, we should view our trials as momentary and not permanent, because we are just journeying through this life.
We remain steadfast in our hope because we know that there are those who don’t know God and are watching us live our lives. When they see us going through a tough time and YET, we are smiling, content, enduring, they wonder why. And we should always be “ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.” (1 Peter 3:15)
The question is, do you still have hope? Or has your hope been dimmed?
Our hope is not a human hope – a simple wish or dream that something would take place. Our hope is in what God has promised – and that is something we can stake our lives on. God has promised something infinitely better than we have ever imagined.
If you are losing hope right now, and just cannot see the good in what you are going through, God is not done yet. Hold on to 1 Corinthians 2:9:
